Home Brewers – Why you should become a home brewer
Home brewers are social folks. No question about it. Every home brewer I have ever met has invited me to sample their latest recipe.
And each one invited me to help out with making the next batch to see how much fun it would be.
There are home brew clubs all across America. Perhaps in other countries too, I did not look that up. Statistics show that home brewers are also interested in finding out what other home brewers are doing and what equipment or recipes are the latest twist in creativity. You can measure the level of interest in the number of home brewers who are subscribed to online magazines and forums. One digest shows there are from 500-1000 subscribers in any given month from 2000 to now.
Trivia is a favorite among the home brewers I have known. Especially about beer, politics and sports. It seems that they go well together with this crowd. Hm. How would I know that?
As a history buff, I enjoy discovering quotes from famous people in the past. Every now and then I run across a home brewer tale that catches my eye like this one.
” It is my design to die in a brew-house, let ale be placed in my mouth when I am expiring, so when the choir of angels come, they may say, Be God propitious to this drinker.” Saint Colombanus
There is a sense of pride and accomplishment that goes along with home brewers. It is like any other art or craft, or even cooking recipe. There is a certain basic science involved but the variables that you can create are so numerous, you can be pleased with your own original home brew.
